Basically what happens is you, as the one who wants to be insured, pay a monthly fee to a company. They then promise, in legal terms, to reimburse you in case anything goes wrong with whatever it is you’ve had insured. There are many, many different kinds of insurances. All of them work off of this same principle. Thanks to the uncertainty of life insurance is oftentimes necessary. People live off of what they make. That means that very little money can go into savings. So if an unexpected event occurs, such as a natural disaster or a car crash that leaves you in need of lots of money, they simply cannot pay. That’s what insurance is meant to cover.

Probably the most popular time of insurance is life insurance. With life insurance you are literally insuring someone’s life. The most popular person to insure is the person who makes the money in the house. If the mom stays at home and the dad works the dad will be insured. If the mom goes out and works and the dad stays home the mom will be insured. This is due to the fact that without that specific member of the family money would be very tight. When you only have a single source of income life can be very volatile. If something were to happen to that person the family would then get a large lump sum of money so that the other head of household has time to find a job.

Another type of insurance is Guardian income insurance. This one is pretty self explanatory. You’re insuring your income. If your income is ever taken away through some means, whether it be being fired or laid off, you’re covered until you can find your next job. It won’t satiate your fiscal needs for life but it’s usually enough for you to get back on your feet. One type of insurance that many people don’t think about is funeral insurance. Whether it’s the coffin, the burial, the funeral itself you’re going to be spending quite a bit of money each time you bury a family member. When that family member has funeral insurance you’ll receive a large lump sum of money. This lets the family mourn the person rather than worry about fiscal issues. With funeral insurance funeral plans are made much easier.

It is also one of the number one fears every new parent experiences. There is no known cause of SIDS, but there are certain preventative measures you can implement to reduce the risks of SIDS.
•	Always lay the infant on their backs, never on their stomachs or sides. If you are worried about the possibility of flat spots, let them roll around on their stomach during waking hours.

•	Never put the infant on a soft surface to sleep, such as water beds, soft mattresses, or couches. Only put the infant to sleep on firm mattresses in the crib or bassinet.

•	Avoid having the infant sleep with you, especially among the blankets and pillows on your bed. Do not use layers of blankets or clothes when putting the infant to bed. Bedding materials such as pillows, stuffed toys, and soft quilts and blankets increase the risk of SIDS.

•	Remove any plastic covering from crib or bassinet mattress, plastic has shown to prevent air circulation in the bassinet and crib. Only use fitted sheets designed for the specific size of mattress.

•	Do not expose the infant to smoke. Smoke exposure has been associated with SIDS, as well as other illnesses. Fragrance exposure should also be avoided, especially from perfumes, air fresheners, and chemical based cleaning supplies. These types of chemical irritants could cause irritation in the infant’s air passage, causing their breathing to be difficult.

•	Breastfeeding has many health benefits for the infant including lowering the risk of upper respiratory infection and SIDS.

After the age of 1, the risk of SIDS is dramatically lowered, in fact, most cases of SIDS occur between two and four months of age.

Few things are more terrifying to a new parent than the prospect that their child could be taken from them without warning. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS, causes the death of almost 3,000 every year. Scientists at The University of Chicago have published findings which they believe can lead to understanding and finally eliminating this killer that strikes without any warning.

Doctors have suspected that breathing issues are a direct cause of SIDS. The researches from Chicago isolated the Neurons in the brain that are responsible for gasping, and act that in infants reset breathing patterns. The same group of researchers published a paper previously that isolated the part of the brainstem responsible for normal breathing rhythm, sighing and gasping.

The doctors feel that their increased understanding of this areas of the brain can help them work towards reducing or eliminating SIDS. Pacemaker neurons are those that regulate the body’s rhythms’ and the group which has been isolated by the research are part of a much smaller group which is calcium driven as opposed to sodium driven. SIDS research in the past had proven that babies stricken had decreased serotonin levels. Since serotonin can regulate the sodium channel neurons they feel that they are on a path that can prove successful

We really apperciate Mr Mark Paton‘s contribution to our website.
